Pisces Molecular applies molecular genetic techniques to wildlife disease management, conservation biology, invasive species identification, and eDNA detection in the aquatic environment.
Founded in 1997 as a PCR diagnostic laboratory specializing in Trout Whirling Disease, Pisces has successfully developed numerous molecular diagnostic and genomic assays utilizing molecular genetics techniques including:
-
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR and qPCR)
-
Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP)
-
Microsatellite Analysis
-
DNA Sequence Analysis
Since nearly all our work involves utilizing or detecting small amounts of DNA or RNA, PCR amplification is central to our procedures. We have performed PCR reactions on over 115,000 individual samples. Because PCR and genetic analysis techniques are sensitive to DNA and RNA sample quality, Pisces specializes in extracting high-purity, stable DNA and RNA from a wide variety of environmental samples.
Pisces serves state and federal wildlife agencies, private companies, zoos, wildlife researchers, and environmental organizations in 47 states in the U.S., and over 25 countries worldwide.
